Report of Parish Council Meeting – Jan 6th 2009 Police - P.C. Sturland Is very concerned about the extent of vandalism in the Village and urged anybody with information about the culprits to report them to him. He cannot take action without information. Allotments - The Parish Council is waiting to hear from the Taylor Family whether they will allow the land designated for the cemetery extension to be used. Memorial Hall – The Committee needs a new Secretary. The 5-a-side football pitch – The Public Meeting was very successful and a Club has been started under the guidance of Mr David Winsor, who is a qualified Coach and Referee. The Parish Council agreed to provide bibs, whistles, balls etc, and also to pay for electricity for some opening sessions. The new footpath to the Village Centre – a grant of £2500.00 has been promised by NSDC and another grant has been applied for. Street Lighting - A quote for street lighting from Church Street to St Oswald’s View has been received in the sum of £20,000.00, which is unfortunately more than the Parish Council can afford. Village Initiative – the Musical Weekend was very successful, and raised money for the Church, the Memorial Hall and the Village Initiative. The Group has offered to assist with the Village Plan. The Cemetery Committee has requested that the hedge at the Cemetery should be cut down to a height of about five foot. The Parish Council agreed to pay for this The Parish Council Notice Board has been vandalised, and it was agreed to replace it with a vandal proof one. It was reported that irresponsible dog owners are allowing their dogs to foul the footpaths, particularly the paths near the School...This is an offence liable for a £500.00 fine. Anyone caught not cleaning up after their dogs will be reported to the police. The War Memorial – The Parish Council is looking into grants for repairing the Memorial. |
