Report of Parish Council Meeting – Mar 3rd 2009

Allotments - The Taylor Family has agreed to  allow the land designated for the cemetery extension to be used for allotments, but in the recent dry weather the ground has been very waterlogged. The Parish Council will look into the possibility of using another site on the old Chester Road.

Memorial Hall – The new oil tank is currently being installed. A new oil line has been required which means that the car park will have to be re- instated, and also the gravel on the play area.
Councillors think it may be better to replace the gravel with bark and shrubs.

The 5-a-side football pitch – Attendance for the preliminary 10 weeks has been very encouraging, in both adults and youngsters, and it is hoped that teams can be organised.

The new footpath to the Village Centre – the grant has been received and the work should commence shortly.

Village Initiative – now has 30 members.A litter pick will be organised shortly, and the Group has ordered the spring plants.

Neighbourhood Watch – Parishioners have expressed concerns about traffic speeding by the School. It was agreed to find out if volunteers could be found to act as “Lollipop Ladies” and also to look into the legal requirements.

The Parish Council Notice Board – a new board has been ordered, and Councillor Balchin has offered to put it in place.

Dog Fouling – some notices have been put up, and the Dog Warden is monitoring the situation.

The War Memorial – Councillor Balchin is in communication with the War Memorials Trust, and has been authorised to act for the Parish Council in this matter.

Village School – concerns were expressed that not all parents are using the crossing, when taking their children to and from school.

Donations – it was agreed to give a donation to the following Charities, all of which benefit the Parish, The Village Initiative, The Air Ambulance, Macmillan Nurses, The Samaritans, Citizens Advice Bureau, Hope House, The Severn Hospice, The Maurice Chandler Sports Centre and the Royal British Legion.

The Youth Shelter will be officially launched on March 30th 2009.
