Report of Parish Council Meeting – March 4th 2008

Youth Shelter – three quotations have been received. It was agreed to position it near to the 5-a-side pitch.

5-A-side football pitch – The electricity supply should be dealt with on March 5th. It was agreed to seek more quotations for the lighting columns.

Football Pitch – The drainage will be finished in April and will then be resown.

The Snooker Club – had a very successful Sponsored Snooker Evening, and raised £800.00-£1000.00.

Trees on the Recreation Ground – the trees with canker have been felled, and the replacement tree should be planted shortly. Amanda Rochelle would like a plaque to commemorate her Parents .This was agreed, so long as it is not too large.

Footpath – the quotation from Keith Bennett in the sum of £9000.00 plus Vat was agreed unanimously.

Parish Plan – questionnaires have been sent to various groups in the Village, asking for their views, and a grant of £2000.00 has been promised to help with the costs.

Donations – were agreed for Citizens advice, The Samaritans, Hope House, the Severn Hospice, Macmillan Nurses, Air Ambulance, Village Initiative and the North Shropshire Safety Scheme.

District Councillors Report – Mr Gould reported that the Unitary Council is to go ahead, and will be called Shropshire Council. North Shropshire District Council will carry on as normal for the next twelve months.

Memorial Hall – it has been agreed that the toilet for the disabled will be positioned in the area of the Gents Toilets, and work should commence shortly.

School – the Pre-school will open on April 8th 2008, and there has been an excellent response – 23 children are already booked in. An Open Day is to be held on March 17th 2008.

Village Initiative – There was a good attendance at the recent AGM. A litter pick will be held shortly.

Street Lighting – Councillors agreed that they would like to see all street lights turned off at 1.00AM. The Clerk will look into the viability of this. She will also request a map of the street lights in the Parish. Mr Balchin offered to check that all the lights in the Village are working.

Website – It was agreed to spend £500.00 on setting up the website.
