Report of Parish Council Meeting – Jul 7th 2009
New County Councillor - Mr Andrew Davies has been appointed at the recent elections, and attended the meeting. He reported that he is currently undergoing extensive training for his new role and is on several committees. Allotments - The Parish Council has obtained a grant of £5000.00 for fencing the allotments. As soon as the work is completed the newly formed Hinstock Allotments Association will take over the running of the allotments. Memorial Hall – The Hall is being used more now, and it is hoped to hold Keep-fit Classes on a Monday and Dancing Classes on a Saturday, if there is sufficient interest. The Recreation Ground – The Cycle Ramps should be installed in time for the school holidays, and the ramp by the 5-a-side football pitch should also be completed by then. Shropshire Council is organising “Reccy Rangers” at the Recreation Ground on the 6th and 20th of August, to deliver play and sports activities to children and young people. Donations – it was agreed to give a donations to The N.S. Safety Scheme to repair the model village, and to Hinstock Playgroup. Fun Day – Jennifer Humphries and Clare Dunn are organising a Fun Day on the 30th of August 2009. “Children Playing” signs at St Oswalds View have been requested, but Shropshire Council will not provide them. It was agreed to request “Concealed Turning” signs instead. Lucy Roberts has been appointed by Shropshire Council to support Communities and to assist groups in obtaining grants etc. Village Groups can contact her at Shropshire Council. Wind Turbine at Lockley Wood – The Parish Council has objected to this application, as it is too close to neighbouring properties, and will have an adverse visual effect on them.The Council has requested a site meeting. Hinstock Bypass - it was agreed to request another sign to warn motorists approaching from the Newport direction, that the two lanes merge into one, by the Chestnuts. |
