Report of Parish Council Meeting – Nov 3rd 2009

Memorial Hall –The lighting on the Walk Way and the Car Park is nearly completed.
The Committee has had plans drawn up to enlarge the Hall, to incorporate an outside toilet and a smaller Meeting Room. Councillors suggested some modifications to the plans, which will be redrawn. When they are agreed the Parish Council will pay for the Planning Application.

The Play Area – Andy Clarkson has now installed the new See Saw, and the Parish Council is very grateful for his help.
It was agreed that it would be a good idea to replace all the stoned area by the Play Area with tarmac, as the stones are damaging the car park.

The Snooker Club has decided that it does not need to move the electricity meter to the Memorial Hall as  a better tariff has been obtained for the existing meter.

The Recreation Ground – the Parish Council was not happy with the standard of the installation of the Cycle Ramps, and they have now been re installed to a better standard. The signs saying that children under twelve must be supervised by an adult have been erected.

Speed Limits at Lockley Wood - Shropshire Council has agreed to the Parish Council’s request that the limit is extended a further 60 metres in the Market Drayton direction, and the traffic mirror for Swan Bank is now in place.

Speed Limits at Shakeford have been requested, and County Councillor Andrew Davies reported that the speed of traffic there is currently being monitored.

Helicopter Noise – Councillor Harvey reported that the Merlin Helicopters from RAF Shawbury are going to Afghanistan. When making complaints about low flying helicopters you need to state a time and place so that they can be investigated.

Dog Fouling – the Parish Council has received several complaints about dog owners allowing their pets to foul pavements, footpaths and the Recreation Ground. The Parish Council will not tolerate this in Hinstock, and if the names and addresses of the owners are supplied, will arrange for the Dog Warden to fine the guilty parties.

The Recreation Ground – plans for a Sports Pavilion are to be prepared, ready for when the bowling green is in place.

Telephone Box outside the Post Office – it was agreed to request that this box is removed, as it is a target for vandals.

Hinstock School – the SATS results this year were very good. The Nursery is doing very well and 19 children have moved from the Nursery to the infant’s class.

Footpaths – a Contractor is now working in the Parish, clearing footpaths and erecting stiles and footpath signs on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Complaints have been received about

  • Dogs barking constantly at Lockley Wood
  • A car owner constantly revving his engine in Sandy Lane
  • People riding bicycles and even a moped, on the 5-a-side football pitch
  • A large pothole by the steps in Church Street will be reported to Shropshire Council
