Report of Parish Council Meeting – Mar 2nd 2010

Group Captain James from RAF Shawbury attended the Meeting to introduce himself, and to talk about developments at Shawbury. He suggested that anyone with problems with low flying helicopters should ring the base and discuss them.
He also said that his staff would be happy to help with Community Projects if possible.

Memorial Hall – The plans for the alterations to the Hall have now been submitted to Shropshire Council. The work will cost between £80,000.00 and £100,000.00, and the Committee is applying for grants to finance it.

Councillor James Hancock has resigned from the Parish Council. The Council is hoping to co-opt a new Councillor to replace him shortly.

Donations – it was agreed to give the same donations as last year, with an additional donation to Help the Heroes.

Planning a Site Meeting was held at Anvil House, and the new dwelling will now go ahead.

Planning Conditions – Councillors are not happy with the height of the new extension at Hinstock Manor, as there is a window overlooking Rose Cottage. It has been requested that opaque glass is used for this window.

The Land Registry has suggested that the Memorial Hall, the Snooker Room and some small pieces of land in the Parish should be registered. This was agreed.

Police Report – PC Sturland reported that The Bikers who meet at the Stormy Petrel will be recommencing their meetings in April.

PC Sturland would like to be notified of any events being held in the Village.

Parish Plan – the questionnaires are now ready to be printed and it was agreed to order 500 copies at the cost of £288.70.

Lighting at the 5-a-side football pitch and the Walk way – Councillors are very concerned that someone has tampered with the timers of the lighting, which has resulted in the lights being on permanently, which has resulted in a large electricity bill The problem has been resolved, but if it happens again stronger action will be taken.

The Village Initiative Group are to hold a treasure hunt on April 5th 2010.
