A public meeting was held in the Memorial Hall on Thursday June 10th 2010 For Parishioners to view a presentation By Jake Berriman from Shropshire Council On the Future of Shropshire, and in particular, Hinstock The presentation was shown at 7.00pm and at 8.00pm with time for Parishioners to ask questions after each viewing. Parishioners were asked to complete a short questionnaire at the end.About 150 Parishioners attended. The overall feeling was that Hinstock should remain a Village, with less than the 160 new houses suggested by Shropshire Council. The future of the School is important, and also the retention of the Allotments. Several people said they want to bring their children up within a Village environment. Parish Councillors met after the Public Meeting to discuss the way forward. Councillors John Lutner and Kay Phillips left the Meeting as they own land in the Village that is among the possible sites shown on the Shropshire Council Map. Councillors agreed that 60 houses would be a reasonable amount to keep the Village sustainable but not to overcrowd it. The first priority is that the land behind the School is not developed, except to extend the School, and possibly provide a school sports area. The land currently used for allotments should remain as allotments. It was also agreed that new housing should mainly be within close proximity to the Village Envelope, between the A41 and the A529 and to the South of the Village. All Planning Applications will be considered in the normal way, as and when they are received.
