Report of Parish Council Meeting – Tuesday July 6th 2010

The Surgery before the Meeting was attended by three Parishioners who queried why the Parish Council has opted for 60 new houses in the Village, when the survey showed that most Parishioners wanted less. It was explained that Shropshire Council would like to see an additional 160 dwellings, and Councillors agreed that it would be better to agree a reasonable figure, which is necessary to sustain the Village, than to have a larger figure forced upon us.

The SAM plans were ratified by the Parish Council, and can be viewed on the notice board and the website.

Memorial Hall – The Parish Council agreed to match-fund the preliminary expenses such as Building Regs. and various Reports payable before grants are obtained.  There are problems with the replacement windows in the Memorial Hall, as lintels were not used. The Parish Council will approach the supplier and see if they are prepared to pay part of the cost of rectifying the problem.

The portable skateboard park –the PC has not been contacted about training yet.

The Police Post Box is now in place

Parish Plan – the responses are currently being analysed

Lighting at the 5-a-side football pitch and the Walk way – action has been taken, and the situation will be monitored.

The Litter Bin for the Youth Shelter has been ordered and when it is delivered the Village Initiative will concrete it in place.

The Millennium Stone on the playground – will be cleaned by the Village Initiative Group in the near future

The possible acquisition of Recreational and Amenity Land from the Executors of G.V.Taylor. – the Executors have suggested that as and when they develop site Hin 009, instead of paying the Parish Council money under section 106, they will build a sports pavilion for the Village. They will also give other land on a 999 year lease, which can be used for a bowling green.

Councillors agreed that this will be good for the Village, but will seek assurances that when the site is developed access will be strictly from the north of the site, and there will be no vehicular access from the south.

County Councillor Andrew Davies reported on cutbacks proposed by Shropshire Council

The Nursery at the School is doing very well, and will have 29 children attending in September, aged 2 to 4.

Buses – the Parish has very few buses. The Parish Council will find out if the situation can be improved.

P.C. Sturland has passed to the Parish Council the concerns of a resident at the Chestnuts about children playing in the middle of the road.

The Parish Council has also been informed that children are climbing on the roof of the bus-shelter.

Councillors would like to request all Parents to be aware of their children’s safety.
