Report of Parish Council Meeting – Tuesday September 7th 2010

The Surgery before the Meeting - was attended by a Parishioner who complained about traffic going to Edwards Transport using the wrong Hatton Road. The Parish Council was already aware of this problem, and has arranged with Shropshire Council to erect a sign pointing out the correct road to be used.

Memorial Hall Extension – one grant has been promised, and others are in the pipeline.

Memorial Hall Windows – The Supplier has offered to correct the problem for £2978.02. The Council will make further enquiries.

Lighting at the 5-a-side football pitch and the Walk way – has been tampered with again. If a satisfactory solution cannot be found, the lights will have to be switched off permanently.

The Litter Bin for the Youth Shelter has now been delivered, and RGS has kindly offered to concrete it in place free of charge.

The Millennium Stone on the playground – has now been cleaned once, and the Village Initiative Group intends to clean it again. The stone is so soft that Councillors think it may be better to have the wording put onto a plastic sign.

County Councillor Andrew Davies reported that a lot of senior positions with Shropshire Council are to be axed.

The War Memorial – three quotes have now been received for restoring the War Memorial. It was agreed to accept the quotation of RGS.

The Annual Safety Report on the Play Area has been received. Thanks to the assistance of Andy Clarkson everything is very low risk.

A Shakeford Resident has complained that no development has been proposed for Shakeford. He will be invited to the next Parish Council Meeting to discuss his concerns.

Another Shakeford Resident has reported another accident on the bad bend by Shakeford Cottage in spite of the anti-skid surface.

It was agreed that double yellow lines are needed on either side of Manor Farm Drive down to the halt sign, to prevent dangerous parking by visitors to Hinstock Manor.

Councillors are concerned about Lorries delivering bird seed, parking outside Holly House, and are also concerned about the large flood outside Holly House. The Clerk will contact Shropshire Council about these problems.
