Report of Parish Council Meeting – Tuesday May 3rd 2011 A two minute silence was held at the beginning of the meeting as a mark of respect for Miss Rachel Lees, who died recently. Potholes in Goldstone Road are very bad, and a wheelchair user recently had a near accident on the footpath by the Church, The Clerk will report these problems to Shropshire Council. The Recreation Ground has a new grounds man, who is doing an excellent job. The new Police Sergeant attended the Meeting with WPC Sharon Creber, and reported on local crime. The main problem in Hinstock is anti social behaviour, and the police would be grateful if members of the public can report these incidents ASAP using the 0300 number in the telephone book. Mr Ray Phillips from the Youth Offending Service also attended the meeting, and agreed to tidy up the area around the underpass by the Chestnuts, including painting. The Parish Plan is nearly ready for printing. Councillors were each given a copy, and will report any errors they find at the AGM. The Memorial Hall Committee is still applying for grants for the extension. They hope to introduce a “buy a brick” scheme shortly to raise funds in the Village. The Village Initiative Group recently raised 230.00 by organising a Treasure Hunt. A Resident who lives near the Playground has written complaining about children screaming as they play. Councillors have every sympathy, but are unable to offer a solution. It was agreed that the chains on the swings need to be replaced. This will be dealt with ASAP. |
