Report of Parish Council Meeting – Tuesday July 5th 2011
Potholes in Goldstone Road have now been repaired, and at present the Clerk has had no new reports of potholes.
The Recreation Ground - vandals have pulled down cables on the walkway to the Recreation Ground. They have been made safe, but Councillors agreed that a permanent solution must be found. The Clerk will ask Mr Turner for a quote on the best way to deal with the problem.
The Memorial Hall Committee is still applying for grants for the extension. The “buy a brick” scheme has started, but is a slow process.
Children’s Playground – Andy Clarkson will finish the repairs to the swings very shortly. The Parish Council is most grateful for all the work that he has done over the last two years to maintain the Playground
Emergency Plan for the Parish – Councillor Brown is currently setting up a plan for dealing with major emergencies in the Parish. Sarah Jane Ellison from Shropshire Council attended the Meeting and gave excellent advice on how to proceed.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated on June 2nd – 5th 2012. The Parish Council is very keen for Hinstock to join in the celebrations, and is seeking Volunteers to help organise various events. It is hoped that all groups and organisations in the Parish will join in. The Council will set aside a sum of money for the celebrations.
Mill Green – Parishioners from Mill Green are very concerned about the speed of the traffic using Mill Green. The Clerk has approached Shropshire Council requesting a 30 mph speed limit, but unfortunately It does not have the funds to prioritise this site.
The School is doing very well, and now has 93 pupils. A new teacher has been appointed, and various alterations to the class rooms are being carried out. The work will be completed by September.
