Dear Resident

DOG FOULING PROBLEM - RECREATIONAL AND OPEN AREAS AROUND BEARCROFT POOL AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS

Over recent months we have received regular complaints about dog fouling around Bearcroft Pool.  In order to try and tackle this problem, I am writing to all local residents to advise them of the law regarding dog fouling.

Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, it is illegal not to clean up after your dog in areas to which the public have access; offenders could be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £80.  Designated Council Officers and Police Community support Officers can issue fixed penalty notices on the spot.  However, fixed penalty notices can also be issued if we receive a witness statement from anyone who sees the offence being committed.

I apologise if you are not a dog owner and feel that this letter is not appropriate for you.  However, I would ask for your co-operation by contacting us if you have any information that may help us to investigate the dog fouling problem in the area.

Please contact me if you wish to discuss any of the matters raised in this letter on 0345 678 9006.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Garbett
